This legislation provides funding for peacekeeping an edonomic assistance for the crisis in Darfur.

Purpose: This legislation provides the following funding for the crisis in Darfur:

  • $1.57 billion for the U.S. contribution to international peacekeeping, including full funding for the joint UN-AU peacekeeping force in Darfur (UNAMID)
  • $16 million to train and equip African militaries up to UN standards so that they can deploy as part of UNAMID
  • $350 million for International Disaster Assistance, including humanitarian aid for Darfur
  • $254 million in Economic Support Funds for southern Sudan
