US Domestic Grant Application for the Save Darfur Coalition
Background
The Save Darfur Coalition makes grants to partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local Darfur activist groups to encourage and facilitate Darfur advocacy work. Grants are intended to support programs and organizations that complement and further the work of the Coalition, with the final goal of bringing peace and security to the people of Darfur.

Grant Recipient Requirements
Grant recipients and applications must meet each of the following characteristics:
- Must be a legally registered 501 (c) 3 charity in the United States, or have fiscal sponsorship from such a charity;
- Must have open financial operating procedures which they can share with the Coalition;
- Cannot support any specific political agenda within Sudan or Sudanese political parties or movements involved in the crisis in Darfur;
- Must have a high likelihood of executing the proposal as planned;
- Priority will be given to local community-based groups and those that have a limited budget;
- All grants must be for strictly non-partisan activities;
- Grantees must be able to demonstrate ability to complete the goals of the submission either through a planning document or from prior success of the organization.
Grant Guidelines
Use the information below to guide your grant application and event/program planning:
- Grant requests will focus on six primary areas of interest for the Coalition:
- Events or programs supporting divestment
- Events or programs that help establish China’s role in Sudan, including Dream for Darfur Olympic Torch Relay events.
- Broad based awareness events
- Events and programs that involve the greater Darfuri diaspora
- Events and programs that support movement and capacity building
- Efforts that bring key “value added” individuals or strategies to the Coalition.
- Priority will be given to programs and events that involve a diverse cross section of the community; and
- No proposal will be considered without the inclusion of a detailed budget.
- Preference will be given to proposals that have a focus on advocacy and education.
- Preference will also be given to projects that can demonstrate additional funding sources.

Applications are due by the 1st of each month unless otherwise stated. Funding decisions will be made no later than the 15th or each month, and funds will be dispersed no later than the 21st of each month.
